You see, the problem with all of our horror movies is they take life as we know it and carry it over into death, but worse.  Ghosts haunt us, goblins ride through Sleepy Hollow and ghouls lumbers around trying to eat us.  Oh, by the way, when did Zombies become fast?  When I was young a good zombie or a good old-fashioned ghoul walked much slower than us living.  Now, they are super-fast.  I wouldn't even stand a chance.  Everyone would run and I would say: “You all go ahead, I’ll stay here and meet Jesus!” 

Speaking of meeting Jesus, that is the thing.  Jesus changes everything. You see, when we meet Jesus we are transformed.  We no longer carry death around with us.  Our body is resurrected.

As we say, “I believe in the resurrection of the body.”   Our body is resurrected but life for us is transformed.

We have eternal life.  We no longer carry around fear, so we are not a ghost haunting anybody.  We have everything we need so we are not riding around looking for our lost head.  And we are healed so we no longer lumber around in our aches and pains.

This week as we celebrate All Saints Sunday and as we remember those who have gone into heaven ahead us, let us praise God who lifts us from this life and transforms us in His love.
