Communion at the Rail

1 Corinthians 10:16-17

Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all share the one loaf.

There are an estimated 2.3 billion Christians in the world. We read the same scriptures. We sing many of the same songs. We all believe in baptism. We all share in the breaking of the bread and the drinking of the cup. We do this together. With all of the many things that separate us, will you take a few minutes even now and give thanks to God for how he unites us in his love and mercy, forgiveness and grace.
