33 In the same way, those of you who do not give up everything you have cannot be my disciples.
Being a disciple of Jesus is not easy. So much of Christian culture these days is following so closely to the rest of society. The number of influencers on social media and networks is extraordinary. In this passage Jesus is telling his followers to leave everything behind, including your own family. Following Jesus is costly. Have you taken account of your life recently to see what you have and what you might need to give up? What is your priority in life? Is it your family? Is it work and financial security? Is it Jesus?
