Good News of Great Joy – Rev. Tai Courtemanche – Matthew 1:18-24

To the shepherds in the fields that night an angel of the Lord proclaimed Jesus birth and called it good news of great joy. Only, joy was the last thing on Joseph’s mind a few months earlier after finding out that his bride to be had become pregnant. An honorable man, Joseph chose to divorce Mary quietly, though was convinced to take Mary as his wife by an angel. I am sure that the night Jesus was born, joy was the only thing on Joseph’s mind. Let us be reminded in the midst of this Christmas Season, that beyond any struggle or unfavorable situation, Jesus brings with him joy, and that joy is ours to take hold of and thrive in. Trouble and stress will still come, but with this joy comes Gods perfect peace.

From everyone here at Chippewa UMC, may you receive God’s joy, feel God’s love, be empowered in the hope of God’s promise and live in God’s perfect peace, His Shalom. Merry Christmas.
