'Twas the Night Before Christmas

‘Twas the night before Christmas,

and as the shepherds looked out all over the land

Not a creature was stirring, not even a lamb.

The sheep lay asleep, dreaming, each one without care

In hopes that no wolf would come that night, not even a bear.

And Davey the shepherd, and Toby his friend, had just settled down for a long winter’s night,

When out in the field there arose such a clatter,

They both sprang up to see what was the matter.

Away from the fire they flew like a flash,

They tore towards the sheep as they both ran in a dash.

A light shone on the crest of the rocks and the hills,

and gave the luster of noonday to all the rills.

When what to their wandering eyes should appear,

But an Angel of the Lord and glory without peer.

“Fear not” a voice said, so deep and so clear,

“I tell you both, you have nothing to fear.

For to you is born this day a Savior,

A Savior who is Christ the Lord!

And this shall be a sign for you,

You will find a babe wrapped in swaddling cloth,

And lying in a manger.”
