Remember Your Baptism

Acts 16: 31-34

They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.” Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household.

Did you know that this scripture is part of why we, as United Methodists, baptize infants? The jailer's entire household was baptized. We are all welcomed into the family of God. This grace is not kept from any. Baptism is God’s gift to us. Another gift that we do nothing to earn or obtain. The water is an outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual grace. It can never be taken from us. If you’ve never been baptized, consider even now if that is something you are ready to receive. If you have been baptized, give thanks for this grace that can never be taken from you.
